It's one of the easiest cities in the world to be vegan. From burgers to fine dining, these are (in my opinion) the best vegan restaurants in London.
London is one of the easiest cities in the world to be vegan.
Whether you're looking for burgers, ice cream, fine dining or afternoon tea, this city has it all. You'll find a huge range of vegan restaurants in London to suit any taste.
Whether you're on a budget or treating yourself, there are plenty of food options all over the city. If you're wondering where to eat plant-based in the Big Smoke, this post is for you.
I'm originally from the UK (though these days I call Vancouver home) and journey back regularly myself. When I visit I always make an effort to try as many restaurants as I can!
That said, this isn't an exhaustive list of London's vegan restaurants. It's subjective (these are my personal favourites) and gets updated each time I go back.
London is a huge city and there are many more vegan eateries than I've been able to list here. I'd urge you to try as many as you can. Happy travels and happy eating!
WULF & LAMB
A welcome vegan spot near the museums in South Kensington, Wulf & Lamb does comfort food really well. Alongside burgers and hand-cut fries, you'll find more whole food dishes like shepherd's pies and hearty soups.
The ambience is lovely as well, with big windows and lots of light (particularly upstairs). Don't miss their delicious desserts, like vegan Eton Mess, or their cake cabinet (cupcakes, donuts and other sweet treats!).
MILDREDS
No list of vegan restaurants in London would be complete without a mention of Mildreds. This vegetarian eatery has been around for a LONG time. I remember eating at their Soho restaurant when I was at university in 2004 (!).
Nowadays they've expanded, with restaurants in Camden, Kings Cross and Dalston. Mostly vegan (some vegetarian dishes), their menu features a wide variety, from grain bowls to curries to jerk tofu. For a cosy, authentic experience, try their original Soho location - you might have to wait for a table but it's worth it.
REDEMPTION
Redemption is quite cool really. It's all sleek with lots of cool grey, marble and green tones throughout, from the tables to the walls. They also make delicious vegan dishes from a host of whole food ingredients. The kale caesar salads are delicious, as well as the daily buddha bowls.
Their breakfast menu is to-die-for however, with offerings such as toasted banana & chocolate bread, and delicious buckwheat pancakes. Go to enjoy a healthy but indulgent brunch followed by a stroll around Notting Hill.
THE SPREAD EAGLE
My favourite new restaurant find when I returned to London this year. Located in Homerton in East London, The Spread Eagle is a 100% vegan pub specializing in Mexican food. Not the typical pub food you'd expect, but utterly delicious.
Food was packed full of colour and taste, and the pub surroundings were beautiful (think deep blue walls and mustard sofas). I'll absolutely be returning to this one!
WAVE
WAVE (We Are Vegan Everything) will seduce you. If not with its ridiculously gorgeous baked goods counter, then with its beautifully decked out patio space. Unusual for East London, their courtyard feels like a spacious little oasis outside the city, with hammock chairs you won't want to get up from and a calming atmosphere.
Their menu is utterly beautiful and of course delicious (try the Brekkie Bowl), but I was a sucker for their raw desserts and baked goods. In particular the brownie.
PLANTS BY DELICIOUSLY ELLA
A little different to the deli that used to bear its name, Plants is Deliciously Ella's latest restaurant endeavour - vegan fine dining in the heart of Mayfair.
The price tag isn't for the faint of heart, but the dishes are beautiful and unique in their ingredients and flavour.
Go for a special occasion, and expect to pay for it!
FARMACY
A great spot for lunch with girlfriends, Farmacy has one of the most lovely interiors of any restaurant I've been to in London. Think flowers around the bar, lots of exposed wood and comfy booths.
As with many other plant-based spots in Notting Hill, the emphasis is on whole foods and nutritionally balanced bowls. A little more expensive than some other vegan eateries, go here for the atmosphere. If you're on a budget, try the slightly cheaper brunch menu.
And for vegan afternoon tea......
EGERTON HOUSE HOTEL
For a vegan afternoon tea full of glamour and excellent service, Egerton House can't be beaten.
The hotel is located near the V&A Museum in South Kensington and its lounge is cosy but sumptuously decorated with rich fabrics and flowers. In short, it looks exactly as you'd expect a traditional English hotel in a beautiful neighbourhood of London to.
The afternoon tea is plentiful and filling and you'll feel totally pampered by the kind staff. Think traditional cucumber sandwiches, sponge cake and raisin scones washed down with pot after pot of tea. I should know, I wrote a full review of Egerton House's vegan afternoon tea.

I'm holding onto this page for the next time I'm in London! We were there in October of 2019 and did a vegan food tour through Shoreditch that was incredible!
