- 1 teaspoon ceremonial matcha powder
- ¼ cup hot water (boiled but not boiling)
- Ice
- 1 cup milk of choice (I like soy or oat)
- Sweetener, to taste (I use about 1 teaspoon maple syrup)
In a small bowl, whisk together matcha powder and hot water using a matcha whisk or milk frother until no lumps remain (if you don't have either of these, blend matcha and hot water in a blender).
Pour matcha over a glass of ice.
Top up with cold milk of choice, sweeten if desired, mix and enjoy!
Matcha powder - Use high-quality matcha powder. Go for ceremonial grade matcha that's bright green - dull green likely won't taste very good.
Ice - I suggest small ice cubes so you don't get huge amounts of water in your latte when they melt.
Milk - I prefer soy milk or oat milk for matcha, but any type including almond milk works.
Sweetener - Maple syrup, coconut sugar, simple syrup, agave or sugar will work fine. Use as much or as little as you like (I typically use about 1 tsp).
Don't use boiling water to whisk - Use just-boiled but not boiling, as you can burn the matcha if the water is too hot.
