Have you ever wondered how to make hemp milk? Now, I love making my own plant milks but I’ll be the first to admit that they can be PRICEY. Particularly if you’re using nuts like cashews, walnuts or almonds, making your own nut and seed milks can become prohibitively expensive.

That’s why I love using hemp seeds! They’re not cheap exactly (are any nuts/seeds?), but they can be much more affordable than other nuts and seeds and they make a really creamy milk. I buy Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seeds from Costco here in Canada, which I find helps make them even cheaper (this post isn’t sponsored – I just find it to be a good deal!).

Hemp milk is really interesting – it has a specific hemp flavour but it’s creamy and rich and is ideal in cereal, porridge/oatmeal and in some hot drinks. Read on below for my top reasons to make it.

And this recipe is so easy – all you need are hemp seeds, water and a blender and you can create a smooth dairy-free milk that’s ready in seconds!

How to Make Hemp Milk – Reasons to Try It

1) My favourite reason for making hemp milk is that it’s EASY. Unlike other seeds and nuts, hemp seeds don’t need to be soaked to make their nutrients more bioavailable, so there is literally just one step to make this milk – blend it!

2) Hemp is also really good for you. The seeds are high in omega-3, -6, healthy fats and iron, to name but a few nutrients.

3) It’s incredibly fast to make. Like, 60 seconds fast. There’s no straining or sieving needed afterwards, so you just blend the ingredients and you’re done!

4) It’s delicious. Once you get used to the slight hemp taste, hemp milk is smooth and creamy, without a strong taste, making it perfect in cereal. You can totally customise it to your own liking as well – try making a chocolate variation using cacao, or why not flavour it with berries?
